Responsibilities of Assistant Manager (SCM)

Inventory Management: The Assistant Manager in Supply Chain Management (SCM) at a motor vehicle company is responsible for overseeing inventory levels of both raw materials and finished goods. This involves forecasting demand, monitoring inventory turnover rates, optimizing stock levels to minimize costs while ensuring adequate supply to meet production requirements.

Supplier Relationship Management: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers is crucial for ensuring a smooth supply chain. The Assistant Manager in SCM is tasked with evaluating supplier performance, negotiating contracts, resolving disputes, and seeking opportunities for collaboration and improvement.

Logistics Coordination: Coordinating the transportation of goods, whether inbound raw materials or outbound finished vehicles, falls under the purview of the Assistant Manager. This includes selecting carriers, scheduling shipments, tracking deliveries, and optimizing transportation routes to minimize costs and delivery times.

Process Improvement: Continuous improvement is essential in SCM to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. The Assistant Manager is responsible for identifying areas for improvement within the supply chain processes, implementing best practices, and leveraging technology to streamline operations.
